THE BIGGER PICTURE
Barca have been working hard to ensure that they have paperwork in place well before that day. According to SPORT, talks there have been positive. A five-year contract through to 2030 is ready to be signed.
DID YOU KNOW?
Yamal’s current deal does include the option for extensions until 2028, but his status as a senior superstar will be recognised. That means his previous contract will be ripped up as a hefty salary increase is secured.

A release clause that fends off any unwelcome interest from afar will be included in the fresh terms - with Barca making a habit of including figures of €1 billion in the extensions agreed with other key performers.
WHAT NEXT FOR LAMINE YAMAL?
While Yamal meets the criteria for Barcelona to agree a lucrative deal despite not having room in their salary cap, they will need to balance the books before the end of the 2025-26 campaign in order to avoid any financial penalties.
