  • Lingard is currently a free agent
  • Unemployed midfielder flooded with offers
  • Most likely to shift base to East Asia to revive career
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Despite training with West Ham and Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia since departing Nottingham Forest last summer, Lingard has failed to earn a contract. However, Sami Mokbel sensationally claimed that the midfielder is spoilt for choices as several clubs across the globe are keen to get him on board. However, it is understood that FC Seoul remains the front-runner to get his services, although Lingard is carefully weighing up each of his options before making a final decision.

    WHAT MOKBEL SAID

Speaking on the It's All Kicking Off Transfer Week podcast, Mobel said: "The news broke late last night about a potential move for Jesse Lingard to South Korea with FC Seoul. So as news broke, I tried to get some information and tried to make some calls on it.

"It was clarified to me and verified to me that FC Seoul are indeed interested in Jesse Lingard, that they've offered him a two-year deal to go and play over in Southeast Asia.

"But then it was also sort of said to me that just to hold back a little bit on saying that it is a done deal because he's got up to 26 other offers, I'm told, from various clubs all over the world who are interested in taking on Jesse Lingard."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mokbel further claimed that Maurizio Sarri's Lazio have also reached out to his representatives and Lingard will make his decision considering several other factors, besides the sporting aspect.

"We're informed that Lazio are among the clubs that have made offers to Jesse Lingard," he said.

"It depends on how far he would want to venture, how far he would be willing to move away from his family if he's to move abroad. Going to Seoul, I've been to Seoul, it's a great place, but it's a long flight home. And it just depends on whether he wants to put himself through those flights and those travel arrangements."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Lingard could reportedly arrive in South Korea on Monday, with a medical set to be carried out before he signs the deal in Kagoshima. The player seems to be eager to explore new horizons and shifting his base to the far east would be a first step in that direction.

    WHAT NEXT?

Seoul's head coach Kim Gi-dong acknowledged that the club is indeed in touch with Lingard "but the deal is not confirmed yet." However, the tactician seemed to be already planning with Lingard in the scheme of things as he assured that the 31-year-old would be given ample time to adapt to his new teammates.
