Hours after winning the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, Earps was jetting off for some well-deserved downtime. Seated in the opposite row to her on the flight was a couple who were engrossed in a newspaper front page featuring a huge photo of Earps clutching her latest award. The Lioness playfully pulled down the peak of her baseball cap suggesting she was looking to get through the flight undisturbed by well wishers.

Manchester United No.1 Earps added the BBC prize to a long list of personal accolades in a memorable year. Dropped by previous England manager Phil Neville in 2020, Earps has spoken poignantly about how close she came to retiring from football but she has gone from strength to strength since being reinstated to the Lionesses squad by Neville's successor Sarina Wiegman.

After an astonishing year the multiple award winner can finally take a few weeks off as the WSL reaches its winter break. After that, Earps will gear up for a return in the FA Cup fourth round when United face off against Newcastle United in the new year.
