'This is an insatiable generation' - Luis de la Fuente says Spain can grow 'beyond my imagination' after Lamine Yamal, Mikel Merino & Pedri run rampant against Turkey

De la Fuente was mesmerised by Spain's performance as they trounced Turkey 6-0 in World Cup qualifying on Sunday. The coach went on to laud the likes of Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Mikel Merino and others for their exhilarating victory away from home, claiming this is a generation that has the capacity to reach heights beyond his imagination.

Pedri, Ferran Torres and Merino were in the limelight along with wonderkid Yamal in Sunday's impressive victory. While Pedri found the back of the net twice, Merino netted a hat-trick and Torres scored a solitary goal in the 53rd minute as Spain recorded a second victory in as many matches in qualifying. They sit at the top of Group E with six points, nine goals scored and none conceded.

The manager said: "This is a team with a capacity for improvement beyond my imagination. This is an insatiable generation that always wants to win and win and win, and be better. But we're already thinking about what we need to do to improve next month. That's something they have inside; it's an exceptional competitive gene. This generation is exceptional, but we have to proceed with great caution because we're in the process and there's still a long time left - specifically, nine months until the start of the World Cup. This group is normal, natural; they won't lose their feet on the ground."

Spain will take on Georgia in their third World Cup qualifier on October 11.
