  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Onana was at fault for Brighton's second and third goals in their costly 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford. The goalkeeper should have come to claim the cross from Kauro Mitoma's goal that put the Seagulls in front before spilling a low cross that allowed Georginio Rutter to put the game beyond all doubt. The United fans, who are no stranger with witnessing costly mistakes by their goalkeeper, may have finally lost patience with the Cameroon international.

    WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

Viran, a United fan, was incensed with the performance. He tweeted: "SELL ONANA THE WORST GOALKEEPER IN MAN UNITED HISTORY."

@CCTransfers16 shared the sentiment. They said: "Get rid of Onana. Honestly. Absolute clown."

Aidan Walsh also called for Onana to be sold, posting on X: "Sell Onana in the summer, useless."

Martien tweeted: "P*** off, Onana. Stands there like a f***ing hologram every time."

Jan Aage Fjørtoft offered a simple, brutal assessment. He said: "What Onana just did is amateur-level—no disrespect to pub teams."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Seagulls have piled yet more misery on Ruben Amorim, who has won just three Premier League games since being appointed in November. The Portuguese coach has struggled to make a huge impact in his few months in charge and still has considerable work to do to turn their fortunes around. The Red Devils, languishing in 13th position, are on course to record their record lowest-ever Premier League finish.

    WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED?

After yet another defeat in the Premier League, United will be hoping to steal a result away at high-flying Fulham next weekend. The Cottagers will provide a strong challenge for Amorim's side having already taken points off Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool this season and will see United as a must-win game in their quest for European football. It remains to be seen whether Amorim will choose to keep Onana as his first-choice or whether the in-form Altay Bayindir will get the nod in between the sticks.
