The 27-year-old's extraordinary season in Denmark reached new heights this week as the wing-back produced another standout performance in a high-stakes title clash but, despite his domestic dominance, the former Cape Town City man remains on the outside of the South Africa national team.
FC Copenhagen and adidas have teamed up to pay tribute to one of the most significant institutions in the history of the beautiful game. To mark the 150th anniversary of Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (KB), a founding pillar of the modern club, a special edition heritage jersey has been unveiled to celebrate a legacy that predates almost every other professional side on the planet.
"[There’s] a young player who plays for [Borussia] Dortmund called Youssoufa Moukoko," Samuel Eto’o told GOAL when asked who he’d love to see as Barcelona’s next big signing back in October 2020. "[He’s] 15 years of age, and he’s the next top player, for me, after [Lionel] Messi. As Messi gets older, we could prepare the future of Barcelona very well."
The Denmark-based player continues to be overlooked by South Africa coach Hugo Broos despite his consistent performances overseas. Even when the 27-year-old wing-back hits top form for his club, the 2017 AFCON-winning trainer shows little trust in including him in his plans. It has become increasingly clear that Broos does not hold him in high regard, leaving many to question what more the player must do to earn a call-up.
