Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi will be on the bench for the first time this season after missing the first three games while away attending a family issue in Tunisia.

Full-backs Bradley Cross and Nkanyiso Shinga were "sick" and racing against time to be fit for Wednesday's game.

Also, in-form defender Aden McCarthy has been trying to recover from an injury and if he does not make it for this game at FNB Stadium, Zitha Kwinika is likely to replace him.

New signing Etiosa Ighodaro was injured at training and his paperwork was also being processed.

The likes of Ethan Chislett, Flavio Silva and Lebohang Maboe, who are yet to make their Chiefs debut could be handed a run by Nabi.

Chiefs possible XI: Petersen, Monyane, Cross, Miguel, Kwinika, Cele, Mthethwa, Shabalala, Mmodi, Duba, Lilepo

    Sundowns team news & squads

Sundowns will be without captain Themba Zwane who has a thigh injury and is expected to be out for the next two months.

Lucas Ribeiro Costa has been pushing for a move away from Chloorkop and will not take part in this match and coach Miguel Cardoso sees Thapelo Maseko as the Brazilian's replacement.

Initially, Maseko appeared to be on his way out of Sundowns, especially after being left out of the 2025 FIFA World Club Cup squad, but Cardoso seems to have had a change of mind.

Although defender Khuliso Mudau has resumed training, he is likely to be unfit for competitive football.

Sundowns possible XI: Williams, Mdunyelwa, Lunga, Kekana, Cupido, Mokoena, Allende, Adams, Letlhaku, Matthews, Rayners

    Head-to-head and recent form

Amakhosi are enjoying a terrific start to their season by winning all three PSL games they have played and that has renewed hopes in their fans that they could rise to become title contenders.

This could give them confidence going into this match against Sundowns who have already dropped points when they were held 1-1 by Chippa United.

The Brazilians are also fresh from the MTN8 elimination by Orlando Prates at the semi-final stage and would be pressed to pick themselves up.
