Ashley Williams channelled his inner Franz Beckenbauer to help Wales reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, according to some fans.
The Swansea City centre-back could hardly move his arm in the latter stages of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Northern Ireland, but still soldiered on to see out the game, even though James Collins was ready and waiting on the touchline.
And Williams’ heroics have seen him compared to Beckenbauer, who famously played on with a dislocated arm in a sling during the 1970 World Cup.
