S. Subramaniam paid tribute to the qualities of JDT after Kelantan's latest league defeat

Subramaniam Sooryapparad returned to his old hunting ground at Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Hassan Yunos Stadium on Wednesday but a defeat to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) only left his Kelantan team in the middle of a relegation battle heading into the last two rounds of Super League matches.

The centre-back made his first start for Kelantan since the resumption of the domestic schedule since the break in early August but saw his team conceded three goals to the league champions, putting Kelantan in a precarious position, just one point ahead of Sarawak.

Subramaniam however remains confident that it is all still in Kelantan’s own hands to decide their league destiny and wants his team mates to concentrate only on themselves in their final two matches against PKNS and Melaka United.

“Our target is to stay in the league. Next two games we have to give all we have to win. It’s a big task but it’s not critical. We have to win our game and not worry about what others do,” said Subramaniam after the match.

As a former JDT player, Subramaniam is also best placed to speak about the virtues of the team who have now won the league in four consecutive seasons.

“Playing at Larkin isn’t easy. We gave our best. JDT have changed a lot, even the system. Their up three and middle three are really strong.”

“The results today reflect the game and congratulations to them. You can see the qualities. They have all the best players in the country, including the foreigners,” added Subramaniam.

This latest defeat marks Kelantan’s 11th defeat of the league campaign with their last win in the league coming way back in May.
