Rumours linking Robbie Keane with a move to Shamrock Rovers are purely speculation, according to Claudine Keane, the wife of former Republic of Ireland international.
Keane, Ireland's all-time top goalscorer who recently called time on a goal-laden six-year spell with Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy, has been heavily linked with a return to Ireland, to complete a career that saw him ply his trade for the likes of Liverpool,. Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.
So many people asking if we're moving back to Ireland. We will be home for Christmas but not for long, maybe in a few more years from now — Claudine Keane (@ClaudineKeane1) November 22, 2016
Responding to persistent rumours on Twitter that Keane will follow in Damien Duff's footsteps by ending his career with the Hoops, wife Claudine said: "So many people asking if we're moving back to Ireland. We will be home for Chistmas, but not for long, maybe in a few years from now"
Mrs. Keane added: "No, first we heard of that. It's just a rumour, no truth to it," when asked a follow-up question specific to the Rovers rumours.
A-League side Brisbane Roar have emerged as potential suitors for 36-year-old Keane's signature, after managing director Mark Kingsman refused to deny that the club is targeting Keane to be its first high-profile guest signing.
