Premier League Betting Tips: Manchester United 13/8 for a festive full house

Manchester United looked a rejuvenated team in Saturday's 5-1 win over Cardiff City.

That game saw United score five times in a Premier League game for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson's final game in charge of the Red Devils.

The appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a caretaker basis may have raised plenty of eyebrows in the footballing community but the Norwegian could get plenty of joy in his first few games in charge.

bet365 make United 13/8 (2.63) to take nine points from their festive clashes with Huddersfield Town, Bournemouth and Newcastle United.

After a tumultuous start to the season under Jose Mourinho, steadying the ship will be Solksjaer's first objective at Old Trafford. While punters will want to wait a little bit longer before declaring the new appointment a success, Saturday’s victory against Solskjaer’s former club was a world away from most of the campaign to date.

With that in mind, it would be no surprise if the feel-good factor meant that it was an enjoyable couple of weeks.

It's 1/2 (1.50) that United take 4-7 points from their next three Premier League games. 14/1 (15.0) is available on 1-3 and it's 300/1 (301.0) that the Red Devils don't improve their points tally over the hectic Christmas period.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said “Solskjaer has got off to a flyer, and while it’s probably too early to call them top four contenders again, it wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world to see them taking maximum points from Huddersfield, Bournemouth and Newcastle as well.”

While Solskjaer's side sit eight points behind Chelsea who occupy the final Champions League spot, they have already been cut from 14/1 (15.0) to 6/1 (7.0) following the weekend's results that included a shock win for Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

Maximum points from their next three games would see that United top four price tumble further, especially if the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea don't maintain their cushion over the Manchester club.
