Musonda shin injury not as bad as first feared

Chelsea have assured Vitesse that Charly Musonda's injury isn't as bad as first feared, as assessments at Cobham Training Centre show that he will only be out for just over a month.

Vitesse signed Musonda on transfer deadline day, with the young Belgian having to ready himself for a debut by playing in the behind closed doors friendly match against Royal Antwerp.

His competitive debut for Chelsea's feeder club will be delayed but Vitesse had feared the worst after a collision in the 0-0 draw resulted in a serious looking shin injury.

The 21-year-old is one of 40 players on loan from Chelsea across the football world and still has a contract at his parent club until 2022, after renewing his deal last November.

Musonda has a mixed time on loan at Real Betis in 2016, while his Celtic switch in 2018 was ended early due to a lack of game time afforded to him by Brendan Rodgers.

Anderlecht attempted to sign Musonda on a permanent deal this summer, while Roma and AC Milan have shown an interest in bringing him in on loan as a back up option.
