Atletico boss Diego Simeone wants to bolster his strikeforce and has identifed the 25-year-old as a prime target.

However, Torino are loathed to let their star player leave and are believed to value him in the region of €100 million (£85m/$111m).

Defender Daniel Steres has signed a new contract with LA Galaxy, extending his stay at the club into a sixth season.

The 29-year-old has made 102 appearances for the Galaxy since being promoted from the club's reserve team in 2016.

Tottenham open Gazzaniga extension talks


Tottenham have opened negotiations with Paulo Gazzaniga over a contract extension, Football Insider reports.

The 27-year-old Argentine joined from Southampton in 2017 and has impressed this season since stepping into the first-team in the absence of injured goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

His current contract runs until 2022, but Spurs are eager to tie him down to a better deal.

Man Utd will have to pay £128m to land Saul


Atletico Madrid will demand a £128 million ($169m) fee from Manchester United for Saul Niguez - according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Red Devils are unlikely to stump up the cash unless Paul Pogba ends up leaving the club the join Real Madrid.

Atletico's valuation of Saul reflects how highly he is regarded by head coach Diego Simeone, who is reluctant to offload a prized asset next year.

Napoli jump Liverpool in race for Berge


Genk president Peter Croonen has admitted discussions with Napoli management about the transfer of Norway midfielder Sander Berge.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the 21-year-old, who has impressed during the Champions League in the centre of midfield for the Belgian club.

But Croonen revealed to Calcio Napoli 24 that Genk had already held talks with the Naples club about a possible transfer.

"We spoke to the Napoli directors about Berge today, but not only that,” Croonen said.

"We talked about our players and Napoli players, they expressed an appreciation for Berge, but we didn’t go beyond that."

Celtic face a battle to keep their on-loan goalkeeper Fraser Forster, with coach Neil Lennon admitting they are unlikely to be able to afford to English goalkeeper.

Forster, who is on loan from Premier League club Southampton, was man-of-the-match as the Hoops defeated rivals Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday.

The 31-year-old is contracted at the Saints until 2022 and Lennon feels his team could be priced out of a move for the England international.
