Leganes v Atletico Madrid Betting Preview: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Atletico Madrid make the short trip to the Estadio Municipal de Butarque for Saturday's early kick-off in La Liga against local rivals Leganes.

Both these sides were in Copa Del Rey action on Tuesday with Atletico recording a 1-0 win at lowly Sant Andreu, while Leganes came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to Rayo Vallecano.

The respective starting elevens for the cup games were much changed with both managers clearly prioritising the three points on offer this weekend.

Latest odds

Seven of the eight points that Leganes have picked up this season have been earned at home and SportPesa offer Mauricio Pellegrino's side at 541/100 (6.41).

Atletico, who are usually strong away from home, have only won one of their five away matches in La Liga this term and are offered at 69/100 (1.69) with the draw priced at 127/50 (3.54).

Team news

Jan Oblak, Diego Godin, Saul, Koke, Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann were all rested for the Copa del Rey and should all return to the starting eleven, although centre-back Jose Maria Gimenez is likely to continue on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

Leganes have been without defender Unai Bustinza for the last three weeks and he remains a doubt.

Preview

This is Leganes' third ever season in the top flight and their two previous meetings with Atleti at Butarque (in 2016 and 2017) ended goalless.

A repeat of that scoreline is offered at 5/1 (6.00) and while that might be a little optimistic, it is fair to say that neither side have been prolific this term.

Atletico have managed just four goals in their five away matches, while Leganes have scored five home goals in four matches.

Tips and predictions

Backing a low scoring encounter certainly appeals and the price of 1/2 (1.50) for under 2.5 goals gives an idea of how tight a game looks to be in store.

Under 0.5 goals in the first half looks like an interesting option at 5/4 (2.25), while going under 0.75 goals before the break on the Asian handicap at 9/10 (1.90) would give us some of our stake back if one goal is scored in the opening 45 minutes.
