Latest Champions League odds: Manchester City 5/1 to qualify after Liverpool run riot at Anfield

Liverpool’s Champions League quarter final clash with Manchester City was billed as a heavyweight clash as the two sides were expected to trade blows at Anfield.

Despite having been heavily backed in the run up to kick-off though, City failed with all their swings and what’s worse, they were floored three times in a first half barrage which Pep Guardiola’s side were powerless to stop.

The pre-game favourites failed to muster a shot on target in a game for the first time since 26th October 2016 and the lack of an away goal is perhaps as big of an issue as the three conceded at the other end. 3-1 certainly would have offered City more than a scrap of hope that their attacking arsenal could have seen them through.

dabblebet make City their 8/15 (1.53) favourites to win the second leg at the Etihad, but it’s 5/1 (6.0) that they qualify for the semi-finals.

The visitors are9/2 (5.50) to secure back-to-back victories while the draw trades at 10/3 (4.33). Mostly importantly though, the Reds are just 1/8 (1.12) to qualify.

Liverpool were beaten 5-0 at the Etihad in the Premier League and Tuesday’s hosts have scored at least four goals on eight occasions in the top flight this season, so it’s far from impossible that they turn things around.

However, the Reds are priced at just 4/9 (1.44) to score in the second leg, meaning it might well be the case that Guardiola’s side need to score at least five times to progress.

The bookmakers are keeping the goal markets short once again, with over 3.5 goals just 23/20 (2.15) and the over 4.5 line priced at 5/2 (3.50) by dabblebet.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are now 6/1 (7.0) to be crowned European champions, with City drifting out to 14/1 (15.0) in the outright winner market. Barcelona and Real Madrid can’t be split at 9/4 (3.25) after both recorded emphatic first leg victories over Roma and Juventus respectively.
