Cardiff City vs Manchester United Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Manchester United will be hoping to begin the post-Jose Mourinho era with a victory when they travel to face Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Portuguese manager was dismissed after overseeing the club's worst start to a league season in the Premier League era, with fan favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking charge until the end of the campaign.

Latest odds

Having spent a miserable eight months in charge of the Bluebirds as he led them to relegation from the top flight back in 2014, the Norwegian is priced at 4/7 (1.57) with bet365 to make a triumphant victorious to the Welsh capital as opposition boss.

However, the hosts have won four of their last five matches on home turf, and can be backed at 11/2 (6.50) to pull off a shock win in this one.

The only previous Premier League meeting between these sides at this ground finished in a 2-2 draw, and you can get odds of 16/5 (4.20) on this one also finishing up all square.

Team news

Joe Bennett and Greg Cunningham are both doubts for the home side, while Jazz Richards remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Paul Pogba will be hoping for a recall after Mourinho's departure, while Anthony Martial should also be fit to start after only making the bench in the defeat at Liverpool. However, Alexis Sanchez, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw are all doubts.

Goals at both ends

For all the talk of the players' frustration at Mourinho's defensive tactics, Solskjaer cannot simply expect to solve everything by merely giving the players more attacking freedom.

While they have scored more goals than anyone but the current top five, the Red Devils possess the fifth worst defensive record in the league - conceding more than 19th-place Huddersfield Town.

Although they should therefore expect to score against an opponent with just one clean sheet in 15 fixtures, the new-look United are also likely to concede considering Neil Warnock's men have been on target in five of their most recent six.

Predictions

All in all, odds of 10/11 (1.91) are well worth backing on Cardiff causing their former boss some problems in a match with goals at both ends.
