Betting: Reading good value in play-offs

Despite finishing third in the Championship, Reading are being overlooked by many to win the promotion play-offs and secure a spot in the Premier League for 2017-18.

Reading won seven of their last nine games in England's second tier to finish third on 85 points, four ahead of Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town, while sixth-placed Fulham ended with 80.

But with Fulham having lost just twice in their past 17 league matches to get into the play-offs ahead of Leeds United, many pundits are backing the London-based club against Jaap Stam's men.

That means Reading will be an interesting option for punters.

At bet365, Reading ($6.00) are clear outsiders to win the promotion play-offs behind Fulham ( $2.62 ), Wednesday ( $3.50 ) and Huddersfield ( $4.00 ).

Even if you believe Fulham will be too strong for Reading over two legs, the Cottagers' home form isn't so impressive with two wins, three draws and a loss from their past six.

Fulham are $1.60 favourites for the first leg on Saturday, while Reading are paying $5.75 and the draw is worth $3.80 .

Earlier in the season, Fulham smashed Reading 5-0 at Craven Cottage, while in the return match, Stam's side triumphed 1-0 at home.

Huddersfield will host Wednesday on Sunday, with Socceroos midfielder Aaron Mooy looking to help the Terriers into the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Wednesday are tipped to prevail over two legs in this all-Yorkshire tie as they made the play-off final last year only to lose to Hull City, while they also beat Huddersfield twice in the regular season.

Carlos Carvalhal's team are worth $3.00 to win the first leg, while Huddersfield are paying $2.37 and the draw is at $3.20 .
