Betting: Nice surprisingly long odds in Ligue 1

The leading two teams in France are somewhat surprisingly decent value to win the title as the reigning champions loom

Despite having led Ligue 1 for longer than any other club this season, Nice remain good value in the title market as do current leaders Monaco.

Nice led Ligue 1 for 14 straight rounds before being overhauled on goal difference by Monaco last week, with the two clubs level on 45 points - three ahead of reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.

But punters can still back Nice to win the French championship at $9.00 at bet365 , while Monaco are paying $3.50 .

Monaco's firepower makes them arguably the more likely of the two clubs to hold off PSG, who have won the past four titles, while Nice's ability to focus solely on Ligue 1 could be in their favour.

PSG and Monaco are still alive in the Champions League, Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue.

Despite their busy schedule and inconsistent form in 2016-17, PSG ( $1.50 ) remain favourites to win the title.

Monaco to win Ligue 1 at $3.50

Nice to win at $9.00

PSG will face Barcelona in the Champions League's Round of 16 in February and March, while Monaco take on Manchester City.

Monaco have scored 60 goals in 20 matches so far this season and that attacking prowess could make them hard to stop when you consider no other Ligue 1 club has managed 40 goals yet this term.

Nice have been the genuine surprise packet in France after finishing fourth in 2015-16, 33 points adrift of champions PSG.

Three draws in the past four matches suggest Lucien Favre's side are starting to stumble but if Nice can take advantage of their light schedule they could win the club's first national title since 1959.

Nice have a tough finish to the season, however, as they host PSG and visit both Marseille and Lyon in the final four rounds.

Lyon, who currently sit fourth, are rated $41 to win the title, while sixth-placed Marseille ($101) are rank outsiders.
