Why Logan Paul turned down $15m to fight Lionel Messi's bodyguard Yassine Cheuko - with WWE superstar snubbing 'super cool' offer after challenging Inter Miami icon to a boxing match

After becoming embroiled in a hydration drinks legal battle with eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi - as PRIME goes head-to-head with Mas+ - YouTube sensation Paul proposed that differences could be settled in the ring.

Messi never responded to that "joke", but Yassine Cheuko did offer to step in if Paul really wanted to trade blows with somebody in the Argentine’s camp. The former Navy SEAL was serious enough for terms to be discussed.

Paul, though, has plenty on his plate at the moment and is not looking to lace gloves up again any time soon. For now, his focus is locked on wrestling matters, with big money being turned down in order to commit fully to that profession.

Paul has told the WWE’s official YouTube channel: "I have committed my life to becoming a WWE superstar. I’m not doing other opportunities.

"I got offered $15 million to fight Messi’s bodyguard. Super appetising. Super cool. But I’m a WWE superstar.

"I’m on a mission right now. And all while all that other cute ancillary stuff works for other people, I’m devoting my life to this. So I turned that down and I’m going to be the best that I can."

Messi will be happy to see a distracting saga brought to a close, with the all-time great looking to deliver a reversal in fortune for Inter Miami. The MLS outfit have suffered three successive defeats, with major silverware falling out of reach in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
