    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sargent has since gone under the knife, ruling him out of action for his country during the international break. He had scored three goals through five Championship appearances prior to being laid low, with a welcome return to form being enjoyed by the 23-year-old forward.

  • WHAT THEY SAID

Norwich boss David Wagner hopes to have Sargent back at his disposal during the busy festive period, or in early 2024. He has said when delivering an update on the Missouri native: “We saw Josh on Wednesday the first time in the building after his surgery. Looks good. Obviously, I've spoken with him and he does not need any painkillers any longer, which is the good information. Next week, he gets out of stitches, which is then the next step and it still is the time frame which we set - Christmas, early January - when we hope to have him come back. Everything went well so far. But now obviously it's all about recovery and then to have a proper rehab, and then a proper build up of his fitness.”

Sargent joined Norwich in the summer of 2021, when they were a Premier League club, and has scored 20 goals for the Canaries through 74 appearances – with double figures reached for the first time in his career last season.
