    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rooney's job at Plymouth Argyle is now under threat as the Pilgrims seem to be no closer to finding a solution to their problems and with fans having called for the coach to leave. Oxford supporters were heard chanting for the Manchester United fan to be relieved of his duties at Home Park during Sunday's clash between the two sides. Rooney has now spoken out about the fans' discontent and calls for him to be sacked.

    WHAT ROONEY SAID

Speaking to BBC Radio, Rooney said: "I think the criticism is normal with the results we're going through.

"You have to feel that you can turn it around. I'm going to go back, watch the game back, evaluate the game and prepare for Bristol [City]. I understand [the fans' reaction], I've been there myself when I was young and I've been there as a fan when you want to see your team win.

"When you're losing games as we're losing them, that frustration is there so I get it and I don't take it personally."
