WATCH: ‘Messi's World Cup: The Rise of a Legend’ trailer & release date ahead of Apple TV+ documentary detailing Inter Miami superstar’s journey to global glory with Argentina at Qatar 2022

The all-time great completed his medal collection in Qatar and cemented his standing alongside icons of the game such as Diego Maradona and Pele. That journey, going all the way back to the start of his international career, is set to be dissected and discussed in the four-part 'Messi's World Cup: The Rise of a Legend' series that will be hitting screens in 2024.

Apple TV+ said of the series: “In his own words, Messi tells the definitive story of his incredible career with the Argentina national football team, providing an intimate and unprecedented look at his quest for a legacy-defining World Cup victory.”

Supporters are taken behind the scenes of Messi’s appearances at five World Cup events going all the way back to 2006. Footage from the Argentine’s younger years is worked into the production, while there is also an interview with the man himself that is carried out by former England and Barcelona striker Gary Lineker.

The documentary promises “the most personal interviews to date with Messi, alongside conversations with team-mates, coaches, competitors, devout fans and commentators.” It follows his path from humble beginnings to World Cup immortality, taking in several highs and lows along the way. 'Messi's World Cup: The Rise of a Legend' will be released by Apple TV+ on February 21, 2024.
