Los Blancos suffered a serious setback in the defence of their La Liga title when going down 2-1 at Santiago Bernabeu to Los Ches. Real are now four points adrift of Clasico rivals Barcelona with eight games left to take in this season.

England international Bellingham needed some way of venting his anger when heading for the dressing room, and a pitch-side screen caught his eye. When passing the monitor, which is used for VAR reviews, the 21-year-old midfielder lashed out.

The one saving grace for Bellingham may be that the equipment in question did not topple over and break. La Liga rules do, however, dictate that players can be punished for “acts of aggression against equipment”. If they are found to have intentionally damaged league property, then suspensions of between one and three matches can be handed out, along with fines and formal warnings.

Bellingham will be desperate to avoid another enforced spell on the sidelines having recently served a ban for telling a referee to “f*ck off”. He has a key role to play in bids for domestic and Champions League glory.
