VIDEO: Chelsea break the bank! Blues announce signing of Mayra Ramirez from Levante for world-record fee

The 24-year-old forward has signed a four-and-half-year contract with the Blues, with her former club in line to receive €450,000 (£384,000/$489,000). With further achievable add-ons of €450,000 the total fee is expected to eclipse the £400,000 paid by Barcelona to Manchester City for the services of Keira Walsh in 2022.

It's been quite the season in west London, with long-serving manager Emma Hayes announcing her decision to take the vacant USWNT post, followed by a season-ending injury to star forward Sam Kerr.

Ramirez's arrival, along with the news that Kerr has agreed a deal to keep her at Chelsea beyond the end of this season comes as welcome news as the Blues ready themselves for their annual silverware hunt.

Ramirez came up against several of her new team-mates during last summer's World Cup in New Zealand and Australia. Jess Carter and Millie Bright were in charge of keeping Ramirez in check during England's quarter-final clash with Colombia and largely did the job as the Lionesses came from behind to secure a semi-final spot.
