U.S. internationals Tim Weah and Weston McKennie started for Juventus on Monday as the Bianconeri defeated Verona 2-0 in Serie A action. Weah lined up at right back and McKennie as an attacking midfielder, the American duo helped see the Old Lady earn a crucial three points in their chase for top-four in the domestic Italian league.
Juventus broke the deadlock after a dominant first 70-plus minutes, with their constant pressure paying off with 18 minutes to spare. Bursting in from the left side of the pitch, Andrea Cambiaso drilled a ball across the six-yard box to find the boot of Khephren Thuram, who fired home for the lead in the 72nd minute. Then, in the 89th minute, Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners added a second from close range to put the match to bed.
Juventus now sit fourth in Serie A after the win, two points clear of fifth place Lazio and just six points out of first place Inter Milan.
