    WHAT HAPPENED?

Postecoglou and Spurs have endured a nightmare 2024-25 campaign, with injuries and inconsistent performances putting the manager under intense pressure. Their latest setback came in the form of a 3-2 loss at Everton, which leaves Tottenham just eight points above the relegation places. Fans have now had enough of the Australian's failure to improve the situation, taking to social media to vent their anger.

  • WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

Tottenham fan @owenthfc__ said on X: "Yeah f*ck off Ange Postecoglou I hope your belongings are being chucked out of your office as we speak."

X user @ben_bowman_ added: "I think Ange is gone after this I’ll be honest, this is shambolic. I’ve defended him a lot and I’ve believed he could be the guy, I’m not going to be the guy screaming from the rooftops to sack him, but if he’s gone I don’t think I’ll be complaining. Sorry state of affairs."

@JamesCHarris97 said: "We all fell in love with the idea of Ange. It felt like the perfect tonic after years of unwatchable football. But it’s mid-January and for the first time in my memory, I’m genuinely fearful of relegation. Never, ever thought I’d see that."

@CraigxMitch added: "Ange Postecoglu is one of the biggest frauds I have ever seen in football... I knew he was 4 months ago but he’s hit lows I didn’t think was possible."

@AliCampbell90 summarized: "I really like Ange, it’s not all his fault, but ultimately you are at risk of getting sacked as a football manager if you lose every single football match"

  • WHAT THE PUNDITS ARE SAYING

Sky Sports pundit and ex-Tottenham star Jamie O'Hara aired his belief that Postecoglou could be sacked after seeing the team extend their winless run in the league to six games. O'Hara said: "Big Ange is in big trouble. I understand there are injuries and youngsters, but there are good players in this team. Where are the leaders? This isn't good enough. The buck stops with the manager and this isn't good enough.

"I think he is on the brink, l think he is on the edge. He could go tonight. I don't think Ange is going to change, I don't think he is going to sort this out. You can't keep a manager because he won a Carabao Cup semi-final 1-0. I don't understand why Ange has got so much credit in the bank."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It has been suggested that chairman Daniel Levy and the Spurs board may take the decision to part ways with the Australian coach this January to avoid slipping further down the table. Reports in Italy have suggested that ex-Juventus and AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri could be in line to replace Postecoglou, but it remains to be seen if Tottenham will wield the axe in the coming days.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?

Spurs have not struggled as much in the Europa League as they have in the Premier League, recording 11 points from their first six games in the league stage. Postecoglou on will hope to still be on the sidelines when Tottenham face Hoffenheim in their next game on Thursday, January 23.
