Thomas Tuchel 'could be confirmed quickly' as England's new permanent manager with the FA negotiating contract terms for ex-Bayern Munich & Chelsea tactician

Per Sky Sports, the FA are currently negotiating the terms of Tuchel's contract with his representatives. It has been claimed that England could confirm the German's appointment soon as he is now the "primary" candidate to succeed Gareth Southgate in the hot seat.

Last week, Bild journalist Christian Falk reported that the former Bayern and Chelsea manager had entered into talks over taking charge of the England men's national team. Meanwhile, The Times reported on Monday that the FA made informal contact with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola at the start of the season, however, he did not reply to their query.

Current interim England coach Lee Carsley had cast doubt over his future after the team's loss to Greece last week as he said he would "hopefully" go back to managing the under-21s.

Tuchel, who has been out of work since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the 2023-24 season, has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag under huge pressure after a poor start to the new campaign. However, it now seems that the German is closing in on the top job with the England national team.
