Ruben Amorim suffering from transfer mistake made by Erik ten Hag after ex-Man Utd boss turned down chance to sign Champions League goal machine

According to The Athletic, Dortmund forward Guirassy was an option for Ten Hag's United in January 2024 but the club decided a £17.5 million release clause was too much for the then 27-year-old when he was at Stuttgart.

United have struggled for goals in recent years, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee leading the club's feeble attack this season. Guirassy went on to join Dortmund later in 2024 after scoring 30 goals for Stuttgart, and this season he has 28 goals in 40 matches. It may have been a case of what might have been for United.

During Guirassy's time at Stuttgart, which included a season-long loan in 2022/23, he scored 44 goals in 58 matches and since then he has been prolific in attack.

Amorim's United may look to sign a new striker when this summer's transfer window opens in the coming months.
