Manager Dorival Junior revealed to Brazilian media that the club had not officially confirmed Richarlison's injury, but it was significant enough to warrant his exclusion from Brazil's 23-man squad. This setback compounds Richarlison's recent struggles with fitness, having only recently recovered from a knee injury that sidelined him for a considerable portion of the season.

Brazil coach Dorival Jr said: “Richarlison has a calf injury. It has not yet been made official by the club, but we contacted the player and he informed us."

Richarlison's latest injury would prevent him from playing with his Tottenham teammates in the remaining three fixtures in the Premier League. This means that his appearance against Liverpool on May 5 could well be his last match in Tottenham colours as Al-Hilal, the current leaders of the Saudi Pro League, have set their sights on acquiring him during the summer transfer window, according to Daily Mail.
