Revealed: The insane fees Chelsea paid to agents in recent transfer windows as Blues fear punishment over PSR breaches

Per Martyn Ziegler of The Times, Chelsea paid an astonishing £75m to agents across the last two transfer windows. In those windows - January of 2024 and the summer of 2023 - the Blues spent just under £400m ($498m) on new players.

Manchester City paid £60m ($75m) to agents over the same period, but the third-highest spending club lags way behind; Manchester United paid agents £34m ($42m).

The revelation comes amid speculation over Chelsea's financial situation and their adherence to PSR - profit and sustainability rules - in the Premier League. Teams in England's top-flight can only post losses of up to £105m ($134m) and Chelsea, as a result, may be forced to move players on to comply. They have been warned that if they cannot do that, they will face a more severe points deduction than both Everton and Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea's incredible spending under Todd Boehly has seen them sign no fewer than 34 players, although it remains to be seen how many of them remain at Stamford Bridge this summer. One homegrown star Conor Gallagher is also expected to leave.

Chelsea will wait with bated breath to see if there is any punishment. In the meantime, they face Everton in the Premier League this weekend.
