Return of the OG Cristiano Ronaldo boot! Nike pay homage to CR7 with re-release of stunning ‘Black Cinder Maize’ Mercurial Vapor I RGN

Portuguese superstar Ronaldo, who has gone on to earn GOAT status, made his professional debut for Sporting as a starry-eyed teenager back in 2002. On August 14 of that year, the first steps were taken down a road that would lead to sporting immortality.

Almost exactly a year later, following a friendly outing that thrust him further under the spotlight, Ronaldo secured a transfer to Manchester United. The rest, as they say, is history. Nike have already offered a nod to the other Ronaldo – Brazil’s legendary No.9 – after re-releasing a version of the iconic “Chrome/Lime” boots that he donned when winning the 2002 World Cup. CR7 is next to the get the throwback treatment, with his offering including a cinder base, yellow accents and the legendary “mini tongue”.

New additions for the Mercurial Vapor I RGN regen include the date of Ronaldo’s debut stamped onto the insole, while only 7777 versions have been made – in reference to the evergreen forward’s fabled shirt number. Said boots are now available, in limited quantities, at prodirectsport.com/soccer.
