New York Knicks forward Josh Hart clarifies social media rant about Chelsea FC, not blockbuster trade for Karl-Anthony Towns

The NBA is notorious for its players posting subtle digs on social media to respond to news items. With the New York Knicks making a blockbuster trade for Minnesota Timberwolves' star Karl-Anthony Towns, Knicks forward Hart got himself into some hot water for perceived criticism of the move after this X post.

The problem is Hart was actually tweeting about his beloved Chelsea FC instead as the Blues gave up an early lead to Brighton in their Premier League clash. Chelsea would storm back and eventually win the contest due to an outer-worldly game from Cole Palmer, who had four goals before halftime.

The hilarious confusion over Hart's X initial post led to some speculation he was not happy about the trade by Knicks fans.

While Hart was talking about his well-known love of Chelsea FC, his new teammate Towns illustrated the aforementioned typical usage of NBA stars when they went to vent their displeasure over trades...

Hart started to rep his Chelsea fandom when he was a member of the Lakers in 2018 and has even struck up friendships with current and former players.

The Knicks will likely announce the Towns soon and their season starts on Oct. 22.

Chelsea are on fire lately, having won four of their last five games and will play Gent in Conference League action on Oct. 3.
