New Wrexham director Kaleen Allyn admits turning down offers from other clubs to link up with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney after having 'terrific' conversations with Hollywood stars ahead of purchasing minority stake in Red Dragons

Wrexham received new investment from Allyn's family, who previously owned a global medical device company which they sold for $2 billion (£1.6bn) in 2015 and turned to private investment. The family now has minority ownership of the Welsh club to help co-chairmen Reynolds and McElhenney continue with the club's ambitious plans. Allyn was then named as the Red Dragons' executive director.

Allyn has now revealed that her family had been in conversation with multiple clubs as they looked for the right club to invest in. During her first interview with Wrexham, the American then revealed that it was her conversations with Reynolds and McElhenney that helped her pick the Red Dragons as the perfect club for her family to invest in.

Speaking to club media, Allyn said: "There's so many exciting things going on.

"We've been involved in a lot of social partnerships. The ethos of our family is investing in great business and uplifting really resilient communities.

"We have looked at football clubs before we never felt that emotional tie - but the heart of Wrexham is the town and the community.

"So being able to invest in that from the football club, but also the Kop and the Gateway project, things that bring the community into the club, is what we're passionate about and is what we've done in upstate in New York.

"Bringing two things together and finding ways to uplift and putting the spotlight on the community is what we're passionate about."

Previous executive director Humphrey Ker has now shifted to the position of Community Director, while Shaun Harvey takes up a position as a non-executive director. Wrexham are set to undertake several new projects including a new 5,500 new Kop - with an ability to expand.
