New 2020-21 football kits: Barcelona, Juventus & all the top clubs' shirts & jerseys revealed

The 2019-20 season was paused for three months due to restrictions imposed to quell the spread of Covid-19, but kit updates for the new season stuck to their original schedule.

That means we saw many clubs lining up for a number of games this summer in outfits that were initially only intended for the 2020-21 campaign.

With clubs adopting new looks ahead of their 2020-21 campaigns, Goal brings you the fresh kits from the best clubs in the world, including information about leaks and more.

    Puma unveiled the new AC Milan home kit for the 2020-21 season on July 28, with the strip inspired by the elegance and grandeur of the city of Milan, its magnificent structures and its iconic architecture.

    Casper Stylsvig, Chief Revenue Officer of the Serie A club, said, "The AC Milan jersey is symbolic, representing the pride and belonging of millions of fans around the world.

    "The new design pays homage to tradition, culture and iconic architecture which is synonymous with our beautiful city of Milan. AC Milan is built on innovation, community, integrity and inclusiveness and Puma have effectively captured these core values within this elegant new design."

    AC Milan's third kit for 2020-21 is teal in colour, featuring a faded Houndstooth pattern, which attempts to evoke the fashion and tailoring tradition of the city.

    Dutch champions Ajax have gone back to the grey-white-red colourway that featured on their 2018-19 away kit for their 2020-21 number.

    White adidas stripes adorn the shoulders, while the club crest and numbers are red, which pop against the light grey-dark grey shirt design.

    The 2020-21 Arsenal home kit by adidas features a slightly darker red, with subtle geometric patterns woven into the fabric.

    Chevrons face east and west, evoking images of the cannon on the club crest, which has faced both directions in the past.

    White stripes adorn the sides of the jersey, with a cannon symbol on the collar.

    The 2020-21 Atletico Madrid home kit by Nike is quite different to the previous edition, though the traditional Rojiblanco stripes remain intact.

    For the new campaign, Atleti's home jersey features more blue - on the sides and classic buttoned collar, which pleases club hero Saul.

    “This kit has a very classic look to it and it’s nice to have the full collar back for the first time in a while,” said the midfielder.

    Atletico Madrid will be decked out in blue when on their travels in 2020-21.

    Their latest offering also features red details on the neck and side of the shirt, as well as on their shorts.

    The main feature of the kit is, however, to be found inside the collar, with Atleti stating that: “The trident of Neptune, which symbolises the Roman god and the fountain in which we celebrate our titles. The Fountain of Neptune is one of Madrid’s most recognisable and representative monuments, as well as another example of our club's long-standing connection with the city in which we were founded 117 years ago.”

    Neon yellow and black are the colours of the Atletico Madrid third kit for the 2020-21 season.

    A subtle design overlays the base, with the badge and logos taking on a monochrome look.

    Barcelona shocked football fans across the world when they brought in a new chequered look for their home jersey in 2019-20, but they will go back to the traditional vertical stripes in 2020-21.

    The Catalan club's latest home kit is a throwback to their Champions League-winning shirt from 2010-11 where they triumphed over Manchester United in the final at Wembley.

    It sports a yellow crew neck collar and the traditional thick vertical red and blue stripes.

    Barcelona have opted to go with a black and gold design for their 2020-21 away kit.

    “The colours are within” is the slogan they have gone with, as the club are eager to point out that “Barca fans’ heart are Blaugrana, no matter what is on the outside”.

    It is the third time in Barca’s history that they have opted for a predominantly black change strip, having taken a similar approach in 2011-12 and 2013-14.

    The club badge will be entirely gold, as will all sponsor logos.

    Barcelona's third kit was unveiled on September 7 and it is the first-ever completely pink jersey in the club's history.

    While the club have previously had kits that have dabbled in pink shades, they have always been accompanied with colours such as orange.

    The pastel pink colourway is complemented by a teal and black trim.

    Bayern Munich debuted their new 2020-21 home kit at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

    It is very similar to the recent efforts, with solid red dominating the design, but in a departure from the 2019-20 kit, there is a touch more white.

    Three adidas stripes adorn the sides, while the collar and sleeves feature white piping.

    Celtic have switched to adidas for the first time for 2020-21, leaving New Balance behind as they embark on a season which could see them win their 10th title in a row.

    The traditional green and white hoops remain a key feature of the Celtic home kit, but the famous three strips of adidas are prominent on the shoulders.

    The home kit incorporates a subtle gold trim on the sleeves and collar.

    The new Chelsea home kit for 2020-21 is something of a departure from last season's effort, with Nike going for a complete overhaul.

    The classic blue is popping thanks to a dark blue trim on the crew-neck collar and sleeves, with the dash of red that adorned recent kits dropped entirely.

    Also fresh in the look is the new shirt sponsor Three, which replaces Yokohoma Tyres.

    Chelsea have also released their new away kit for the 2020-21 campaign, with the Arctic blue design said to have "millennial swagger" which mirrors that of an exciting young squad in west London.

    The Blues, in partnership with kit suppliers Nike, have sought to come up with a design that they believe reflects what the club and its vision for the future is all about.

    Chelsea's third kit was released on September 7, just ahead of the big kick-off in the Premier League.

    Inspired by kits of the past, particularly the 1980s, and a classic Nike trainer from the 1990s, the jersey is red (or 'ember glow') with faded blue (ultramarine) stripes.

    The third kit will be completed by red shorts and blue socks round off the look.

    Everton will wear Hummel's iconic chevrons on their shoulders and sleeves during the 2020-21 campaign.

    The home kit will be traditional blue with white chevrons and piping.

    As well as switching from Umbro, the new kit will have a fresh sponsor, with Cazoo replacing SportPesa.

    Everton have taken inspiration from their 1960s and 1970s away kits with their new amber-and-blue look for 2020-21.

    A bold new zig-zag design has been incorporated into Inter's home kit for 2020-21.

    The intention behind the departure from the classic candystripe design is to provide a post-modern update while also evoking Il Biscione - the snake symbol of Milan.

    Having gone with a split two-tone design last season, Juventus have returned to their classic Bianconeri stripes in their 2020-21 home kit.

    According to adidas, the style of the stripes, which are not solid black, is inspired by "the world of modern art".

    Complementing the classic stripes, they jersey features gold on the badge, sponsor and adidas insignia.

    Juventus' away kit for 2020-21 was revealed on August 7 and, like the home kit, adidas proclaims that it is inspired by modern art.

    "Taking inspiration from the unity of art and football," goes the press release from adidas. "Artistic painted stripes are engineered into the knit of the sleeve bands, tying the away kit together with the home kit which also features a unique brushstroke design."

    The base colour is 'Night Indigo' - a shade of dark blue - with silver details on the sleeves and shoulders, as well as the club badge, sponsor logo and manufacturer symbol.

    The Juventus third kit is a vibrant orange number featuring black camouflage-like design overlay.

    Black trimming adorns the collar and sleeves, with the badge and logos coloured white.

    Liverpool have marked their new five-year association with Nike by unveiling their home kit for the 2020-21 season.

    Describing the kit and the colour choices, a Nike press release read: "[The kit] acknowledges the past, whilst setting the tone for future collections.

    "Liverpool’s new home kit is comprised of the traditional red jersey, red shorts and red socks. The use of a brighter red exudes youth and vibrancy, complimenting the traditional white and the introduction of teal to the home jersey."

    Liverpool's away kit for 2020-21 is a bold teal and black number. It was released on August 13.

    Drawing inspiration from the liver bird and the Shankly Gates, the new away look throws back to the green colour that adorned the old Liverpool 'You'll Never Walk Alone' badge - which also features on the home kit.

    The base of the jersey and shorts is teal and a swirling overlay sits on top, bordered by the black collar line and sleeves. The collar is different to the home jersey, crew-neck instead of v-neck, with a solid colour. It is a striking departure from the 2019-20 away style, which was white.

    The Liverpool third kit was launched on September 11, just ahead of the opening weekend of the 2020-21Premier League season.

    It features a chequered black and grey design on the shirt, with red and white on the v-neck collar. Red also forms part of the side of the torso on the jersey.

    According the Nike, the kit is inspired by Anfield's Kop as well as the sportswear manufacturer's 'sneaker culture.

    Manchester City have unveiled their new 2020-21 home shirt, which is inspired by the mosaics of iconic figures that act as wallpaper around Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

    The jersey, which is sponsored by Puma, features the mosaic pattern in classic City blue and white, with navy trim, while it's accompanied by white shorts and light blue socks.

    Manchester City’s new dark blue, black and copper away kit for the 2020-21 campaign sees inspiration sought from their surroundings.

    Puma looked to Castlefield and the Bridgewater canal when drawing up their latest offering, which features all-over pattern, with that area considered to be “symbolic of Manchester’s past, present and future”. 

    City said: “Whilst Castlefield’s history dates back to Roman times, it is most celebrated as the heart of Manchester’s industrial past having once been the terminus of both the world’s first industrial canal, the Bridgewater canal, and first inter-city railway. 

    “The area has now been transformed into one of the city’s most vibrant art and music hubs, as well as home to Manchester’s multi-cultural youth scene, and has flourished into a region brimming with creativity and collaboration.”

    Manchester City's third change kit for the 2020-21 season features a paisley design and a soft colour palette of creamy pink and blue.

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made “DNA” a buzzword at Old Trafford and Manchester United’s 2020-21 home shirt from Adidas seeks to buy into that by “using the threads of the club crest itself to produce a subtly patterned base fabric”.

    United have produced a “nuanced design through an innovative ‘space dye’ technique that allows separate yarns to be dyed individually, and at different lengths, to give a finish with depth, and with full details only viewable by the wearer”.

    The Premier League heavyweights have also produced jerseys specifically designed for children as they look to acknowledge and embrace the next generation of a loyal fan base.

    Adidas consider the Manchester United away shirt to be “legend earth green” and to boast “intricately hand-drawn and painted design”.

    The Red Devils say their latest offering is “designed with the club’s famous away supporters in mind”.

    The Red Devils unveiled a “visually distinctive design inspired by striped jerseys from the club’s history” with the Premier League giants “delivering a vibrant new print”.

    Adidas claimed to have “re-drew, hacked and re-imagined combined elements from various jerseys throughout the club’s long history to create a bold new pattern. Utilising United’s iconic club colours of red, white and black the kit is an original story with a modern update.”

    United’s kit manufacturer added on their efforts: “The result is surprising, unexpected and demonstrates a continued ambition to push the boundaries of shirt design.”

    A “fresh Spring Pink colour” has been favoured in Real Madrid’s away kit for 2020-21, with the Liga giants claiming that the design is inspired “by a city lit at night, when Plaza De Cibeles, an icon of the city is at its most beautiful.”

    The Blancos are eager to point out that they have “always been a club cut from a different cloth” and believe that their latest designs “embody the relentless drive for trophies and the club’s desire to continue to create history and achieve glory”.

    Real Madrid's third kit for the 2020-21 season was released on September 9 and it takes inspiration from the Baroque 'Azulejo' tile art paintings which adorn the city of Madrid.

    The kit is black and grey, with the Azulejo design overlay and it continues a theme with pink - Spring Pink, to be precise - popping from the logos of the sponsor, club badge and kit manufacturer adidas.

    The famous three strips are confined to the sides of the jersey and they are also pink.

    Roma have taken inspiration from the famous 'giaccholo' (ice pop) kit they wore in their memorable 1980 Coppa Italia triumph.

    The club's traditional deep red is the base colour of the kit, as expected, with horizontal giallorossi stripes featuring on the chest.

    The jersey, which features a button-down collar, has an ivory base with yellow and red borders - calling to mind their 1980s look.

    Tottenham's new away kit for the 2020-21 season takes an adventurous approach by introducing a fresh shade of green and flashes of neon yellow and lava glow to create a vibrant change of colors for the new campaign.

    Despite the change in colour, Harry Kane is a fan of the new design and said: "As an away kit, this shade of green is a new colour, but I think it suits us really well, and the small details also make a big difference."

    Like a number of Nike's third-kit designs, Tottenham's is said to be inspired by the brand's sneaker tradition.

    Spurs' alternative kit is mostly bright yellow, with a navy trim on the collar, sleeves and logos.

    The club badge and Nike swoosh are central on the jersey.
