    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The defender is now set to undergo a scan on the problem to determined the severity of the injury, according to The Athletic. Manager Slot offered an update on Alexander-Arnold after the win and admitted he may well miss Liverpool's next game against Tottenham in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

  • WHAT SLOT SAID

He told reporters: "The situation was that he said to me, 'You have to take me off' and he sat on the floor and we took him off. He felt something, I can't tell you exactly what and how bad it is of course because we are one hour after the game, but it is never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution. This is not a fact but I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday, but let's hope he is back with us as soon as possible."

    WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL

The loss of Alexander-Arnold would be a blow for Liverpool, particularly as they head into the match at Anfield against Spurs trailing 1-0 from the first leg. The winners of the tie will play either Arsenal or Newcastle in the final.
