WHAT HAPPENED?
The Chelsea loanee is all set to travel to Germany with the Dutch squad for the upcoming European Championships as he has been named as a replacement for Barcelona star De Jong in the team by manager Ronaldo Koeman, according to VI.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
De Jong has remained out of action since April - except for a 45-minute cameo in El Clasico - due to an ankle injury that he suffered during Barcelona's goalless draw against Athletic Club in early March. Despite his knock, Koeman had named the midfielder in the Netherlands roster in the hope that he would recover before the tournament kicks off. However, the player himself confirmed on social media on Monday that he will no longer take part in the continental competition.

A day after De Jong was ruled out of the Euros, the Netherlands squad have been rocked with yet another injury blow as the Oranje officially confirmed that Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners will miss the tournament due to an injury that he suffered during the team's friendly against Iceland on Monday.
