  • Long-term future remains unclear
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Barcelona have sent scouts to watch Greenwood in action this season while out on loan at Getafe, according to talkSPORT. The Catalans are not the only top Spanish club watching Greenwood either. Atletico Madrid have also been keeping a close eye on the forward. Greenwood moved on loan in the summer from Manchester United and has four goals and three assists so far this season for Jose Bordalas's side.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Barcelona may be being linked with Greenwood but Xavi's side hardly lack for attacking options and will add to their squad in January. Vitor Roque will sign from Athletico Paranaense and join Robert Lewandowski, Joao Felix, Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal in the squad. The Catalans are also thought to be keen to make Felix's loan move permanent at the end of the season. Yet Greenwood could still end up staying in Spain. Getafe have already said they would like to sign him permanently, while Valencia and Real Sociedad have also been linked with the Manchester United loanee.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Getafe will reportedly only have to pay 80 percent of any agreed price if they buy him from Manchester United. The Spanish club will also make money if United sell him elsewhere due to a sell-on clause in his loan deal, with the Madrid side set to earn 20 percent of any transfer fee if the Red Devils offload Greenwood to another club.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GREENWOOD?

Manchester United are not expected to make a final decision on Greenwood's future until the spring of 2024. Getafe have already made their stance clear on the forward but may face competition for his signature at the end of the campaign when his loan deal expires.
