'It needs to be remade' - Man Utd compared to scrambled eggs by TV chef Ainsley Harriott as club crisis continues

United have won just three matches in all competitions this season, collecting only eight points from seven games in the Premier League, while they have drawn both of their matches so far in the Europa League. Their underwhelming performances and results have resulted in renewed calls for manager Erik ten Hag to be sacked, despite signing a contact extension ahead of the new campaign.

The pressure on Ten Hag comes despite the club splashing out on Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, and Manuel Ugarte over the summer to boost their hopes of challenging for silverware this term. Harriott, though, believes the Red Devils look like they need to start all over again.

Asked by BBC Sport for a food comparison to the Red Devils this season, the former Ready Steady Cook host said: "I think it would be overcooked scrambled egg. A bit heavy, not moving... it needs to be sort of remade."

Ten Hag will hope to see his side put on a more appetising performance when they face Brentford at Old Trafford in the Premier League next weekend after the international break.
