  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Rodri was substituted after appearing to jar his knee while his leg was planted in the turf during City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday and medical staff were required to assess the damage; they initially called for a stretcher, but the Spaniard was able to walk off the pitch under his own steam. El Larguero claims that initial tests have ruled out a serious injury, despite initial fears of an anterior cruciate ligament issue. However, conflicting reports soon emerged that Rodri does indeed appear to have suffered an ACL injury.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

City play four games in the next two weeks, against Newcastle and Fulham in the Premier League, Watford in the Carabao Cup, and Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League, so Pep Guardiola will have to use the majority of his squad. The coach has, however, confirmed that De Bruyne will soon be back, having missed the Arsenal clash with a thigh injury sustained against Inter.

  • WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID

Guardiola told reporters about De Bruyne's recovery: "I don't think it will be long. I cannot say how long for, I don't know for Newcastle but it won't be long. [He has] discomfort in his legs."
