Lucas Paqueta learns date of spot-fixing hearing which could see him receive 'lifetime ban'

The Brazilian was investigated by the FA over alleged betting breaches during his time with West Ham last October. Paqueta was accused of deliberately getting booked in four Premier League games against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth during the 2022/23 season. He was then charged with misconduct in May.

Now, The Sun reports that the 27-year-old's hearing could begin in March 2025 and he may face a lifetime ban if found guilty. He is also charged with two counts of failing to comply with the ongoing investigation into the matter.

The Hammers have maintained their full support to their star player during this process. Earlier this summer, some reports claimed that the Premier League club were planning to part ways with their sponsor Betway after it was suggested that the online gambling company were linked with his charges.

Paqueta has appeared in nine matches across all competitions for Julen Lopetegui's side in the ongoing campaign, where he managed to score twice. He will be next seen in action for the Brazil national team, who take on Chile on Friday in a 2026 World Cup qualifying game.
