Kylian Mbappe loses 5kg after short spell in American hospital with illness as Real Madrid continue FIFA Club World Cup campaign

Mbappe was admitted to hospital last week with gastroenteritis and has missed both of Real Madrid's opening two Club World Cup matches. According to Marca, he has lost 5kg in weight and has not looked well in training.

Mbappe has returned to training and could feature in Real's last group game against Red Bull Salzburg on Friday. He has been working in the gym this week, with the report stating his weight loss is clear from photos in training.

Mbappe scored 43 goals in 56 appearances in his first season at the Bernabeu, a successful return despite the fact his side did not win any silverware. Former Real skipper Sergio Ramos believes he will win "four or five Ballon d'Ors" for the club.

Real Madrid know just a draw against Salzburg is required to see them win Group H at the Club World Cup. That could set up a blockbuster round of 16 tie with Manchester City, who currently sit second in Group G.
