'Hasn't got his knighthood yet!' - David Beckham takes stray from wife Victoria with A-list partner revealing true thoughts on 'cheeky Nando's' and budget airlines

Beckham, who was once famously referred to as ‘Golden Balls’ by his former Spice Girls singer wife, is poised to become a knight of the realm after seeing that title bestowed upon him in King Charles’ Birthday Honours.

The 50-year-old, who is heavily involved in charity work outside of football, said of getting that nod after several years of speculation: "Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour.

"To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true. Off the pitch, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation.

"I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family."

Having been awarded an OBE in 2003, Beckham is yet to be officially knighted. His wife has taken to reminding him of that fact, with Victoria telling The Sun when asked if she is now ‘Lady’ of Beckingham Palace: "No! Anyway, David hasn’t even got his knighthood yet!"

Victoria, who is promoting her new three-part show on streaming service Netflix, has lifted the lid on some of her private life. She claims to have used budget airlines, saying when asked if she has flown with easyJet: "Yes, loads! I’ve even flown ­Ryanair!" She does not drink cheap wine and shops online, rather than going to the supermarket for a weekly big shop. She is partial to a night out with David, but has never indulged in a "cheeky Nando’s".

Victoria did admit to The Sun: "David and I like to party. We have a brilliant group of friends. It’s about balance." They continue to split their time between the United Kingdom and the United States, with lavish properties owned on both sides of the Atlantic.

A life of fame and fortune is being enjoyed, but that does not stop Victoria from enduring similar issues to everybody else. She said when lifting the lid on David’s sleeping habits: "I wear earplugs. Let me tell you, it ain’t for fun. What do you think I’m doing it for? It’s not to pull a look in bed. He might look like that, but breaking news, even my husband snores. I have to have the earplugs."

Told that she should send her husband to a spare room, Posh Spice added: "That’s not healthy, you don’t want to do that. That’s why you’ve got to do the earplugs. Or embrace the snore, and I can’t do that, so just block out the noise!"

David starred in his own documentary from Netflix in 2023. He has now passed the spotlight over to his wife, with ‘Victoria Beckham’ being released worldwide on October 9. Fans are being given a fly-on-the-wall look at one of the most famous couples on the planet.

They have their hands full with family and work commitments, with Victoria owning a successful fashion business while David is hoping to see eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi inspire Inter Miami to MLS Cup glory in 2025 - potentially signing a new contract along the way.
