    WHAT MARK HOWARD SAID

Wrexham goalkeeper Howard has told OLBG of rubbing shoulders with the stars: “I’ve watched Ryan’s films. I had done that though before I joined Wrexham as I'm a big film buff. You watch Deadpool, these hugely popular films, but you don’t see him as this Hollywood superstar. There’s been a few famous faces I’ve met. Actors Charlie Day and Will Ferrell have come in.

“To meet Will was amazing. I remember myself and team-mate Elliot Lee were in the physio room having some treatment and Will came in and we were soon cracking up. He’s so funny. Hugh Jackman also came in. We are quite used to it now with some A-list movie stars being at the game. At our away games we get rival fans or players asking if the owners are coming. They are a big pull for everyone.”

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Reynolds and McElhenney have captured the imagination of a global audience, thanks in part to their ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series, with it their intention to guide the Red Dragons towards the Premier League.

    TELL ME MORE

Howard added on that ambitious plan: “Momentum is huge in football. Our target is to continue to build. We won’t be making big predictions as that is not us. League One is a lot tougher and a bigger ask as there are a lot of big clubs with history.

“The levels get harder but we try and continue to push on. We have been accustomed to winning. You never know what will happen. The owners have shown they will give the backing so it’s exciting times and who knows where it will take us.”

  • WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

With nobody getting ahead of themselves just yet, the pursuit of precious points in League One remains the top priority for Wrexham. They are among the frontrunners in 2024-25, with a historic third successive promotion being chased down.
