  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Al-Nassr and Portugal forward Ronaldo avoids sleeping with his phone in his room, according to former team-mate Cedric. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is still playing at 40 years of age and is known for taking his diet and sleep pattern incredibly seriously as he bids to extend his long career by staying as fit as possible.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Now, Cedric, who played alongside Ronaldo on 25 occasions for Portugal, has revealed he was advised by the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to stay away from his phone when bedtime comes.

  • WHAT CEDRIC SAID

Cedric told ESPN Brasil: "He stops using his cell phone at certain times. He says it affects his sleep, so he leaves it outside the bedroom. There was a time when he said to me, 'Cedric, you can't use 5G because it can affect your sleep.' That was when 5G came along. I don't know if he still does it, but he blocked the signal to sleep x hours."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Ronaldo may not have been duped by a conspiracy theory, but misinformation was particularly rife during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic when it was falsely claimed that 5G makes the human immune system weaker and that the virus can be transmitted through 5G networks.

    WHAT NEXT FOR RONALDO?

Clearly not a fan of late night Instagram scrolling sessions, Ronaldo will be keen to be in top shape once the club season gets up and running in Saudi Arabia. He scored in a pre-season friendly win over Toulouse last week but was then part of an Al-Nassr side that was beaten by Portuguese minnows Estrela da Amadora in a match that took place behind closed doors.
