Chelsea considering shock transfer move for out-of-favour Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale amid injury troubles

The first-choice keeper at Stamford Bridge, Robert Sanchez, is currently staring at an indefinite period on the sidelines due to a knee injury. This has forced the Blues to look at other options and they are considering stepping up their interest in Ramsdale, according to talkSPORT. Ramsdale is expected to leave Arsenal after losing his starting position to David Raya and has also attracted attention from Newcastle.

Newcastle's financial constraints may limit their ability to pursue a permanent transfer for Ramsdale, which could be good news for Chelsea. Manager Mauricio Pochettino is urging his board to sign players who have prior experience playing in the Premier League following a challenging first half of the season and hence Ramsdale has become one of the top priorities of the club.

Despite Ramsdale's reduced playing time this season, his potential exit could leave Mikel Arteta with only 21-year-old third-choice goalkeeper Karl Hein as back-up to Raya. Hence, Arsenal may resist any advances until they can secure a suitable replacement.

In the absence of Sanchez, Pochettino is likely to rely on summer signing Djordje Petrovic, a 24-year-old Serbian shot-stopper from New England Revolution, for the Blues' upcoming clash against Sheffield United on Saturday.
