Another lever pulled! Barcelona push to sign Xavi Simons on loan from PSG as RB Leipzig struggle to fund permanent deal

According to Fabrizio Romano, the highly-rated Dutch international is drawing a significant amount of interest after impressing on loan at RB Leipzig this season. Barcelona are the latest team to enter the race to secure his signature and the popular journalist hints that Simons will decide his future before Euro 2024.

Posting on social media platform X, Romano said: "Xavi Simons and PSG will decide future before the Euros — but PSG don’t want to sell Xavi this summer. Also, RB Leipzig can’t afford permanent move. Loan move, most likely option — Barca are pushing, Leipzig and PL clubs keen. Xavi will have a say in the loan decision."

Simons is hot property across Europe for a very good reason. The 21-year-old has 24 goal contributions in 42 appearances across all competitions this season and is set to be a key player for the Netherlands this summer. Barca are still struggling to spend big in the transfer market and need to take a step towards Real Madrid in La Liga next season after forfeiting the title. They have famously had to pull "levers" to fund deals previously.

Euro 2024 is just around the corner and the 13-cap international is gearing up for a huge summer. He has just two games left on loan at Leipzig and he will then sit down with his agents and family to decide where he will be playing his football in 2024-25.
