Arsenal's worst fears realised! Noni Madueke facing lengthy spell out after suffering serious knee injury vs Man City

Madueke underwent scans on his knee on Monday and while he has avoided an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, the England international will remain sidelined for at least two months, The Athletic reports. This means that the Gunners star will miss several important games at club level and will also be unavailable for the England national team for at least the October international break. 

Arsenal have been unlucky with injuries to key squad members since the turn of the year. Kai Havertz remains sidelined after undergoing knee surgery in August, while Gabriel Jesus has not played for the club since January after picking up an ACL injury. This has reduced Arteta's options in the attacking third to just one No.9 in the form of new signing Viktor Gyokeres. Gunners captain Martin Odegaard is also currently out of action due to a shoulder problem. 

Since joining the Gunners from Chelsea this summer, Madueke has quickly established himself as a key first-team player under Arteta, starting four of the club's first five games of the season and earning widespread praise for his positive style of play.

The 23-year-old is set to sit out some vital fixtures for Arsenal, including a trip to Newcastle in the Premier League, and Champions League games against Olympiacos and Atletico Madrid. He will hope to return in time for the Gunners' north London derby clash with Tottenham on November 23.
