Are Spurs being sold?! Qatari interest in north London club may be a factor in Daniel Levy's shock departure

Levy left Spurs on Thursday, bringing to an end a 24-year reign at the club's helm. The family of owner Joe Lewis are said to be taking a more hands-on role, and The Independent now reports that industry figures are speculating that Spurs appear to be readying themselves for a sale. 

The report claims that there is Qatari interest in Tottenham, with the club valued at an immense total of £4 billion ($5bn). As is usually the case in boardroom affairs, sources in the report send mixed messages, with others claiming that Lewis' family want to bed into the role and "maximise the asset", as they aim to take Spurs to the top of the league table. 

Spurs won just two trophies in Levy's tenure, the Carabao Cup in 2008 and the Europa League last season. The report also claims that other figures in the Premier League became fatigued with Levy, as negotiations with the Spurs chairman would drag on and on, so the Lewis family will be hoping a wind of change blows through north London. 

Spurs take on West Ham in a London derby after the international break, before taking on Villarreal in the Champions League, a competition that Levy repeatedly helped the club qualify for.
