    WHAT HAPPENED

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now serving as an advisor for AC Milan, praised Santiago Gimenez for his impressive start with the Rossoneri. The Mexican striker has scored in each of his first two Serie A appearances, matching a feat previously achieved by club legends Andriy Shevchenko and Christian Pulisic.

The forward, who signed from Feyenoord in January, has netted twice in as many league appearances, with his second coming in a 1-0 win over Verona on the weekend.

“He’s scored in two league games in a row,” Zlatan said. “He’s made history with these two goals. We hope the third comes in his third game.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 23-year-old enjoyed an excellent start to the season with Eredivisie side Feyenoord, netting 16 goals and four assists before he was linked with a move in January. But with AC Milan interested, Gimenez opted to join the Rossoneri. He scored twice in as many league games for the club, with his first goal coming off the bench against FC Empoli.

    WHAT’S NEXT?

Milan's 2024-25 season has been challenging as they find themselves outside the top four positions in Serie A. With 24 games played, Milan sits in seventh place with 41 points, trailing the league leaders Napoli by 15 points. The Rossoneri are currently five points behind fourth-place Juventus, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot with 46 points.
