Revealed: 2022-23 Champions League fastest players as Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk misses out on top spot and Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai doesn't make top 10

The fastest players in the 2022-23 Champions League proper have been revealed.

Manchester City would eventually lift the trophy, but there was plenty of standout physical performances before they bested Inter in the final. There are few sights more exciting in football than a player leaving their opposite number for dead in a foot race.

And, as the Champions League is the pinnacle of the European club game, there were plenty of speedsters on display in last season's competition. But who was the fastest?

Thanks to UEFA, we have an answer to that question. Below, GOAL reveals the 11 quickest players in the 2022-23 Champions League...

Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Leipzig) - 35.9km/h
Szoboszlai has plenty of strings to his bow, as Liverpool fans are discovering this season. Underpinning it all is his pace, which is evidence by the 35.9km/h top speed he registered in an RB Leipzig shirt during last season's Champions League.

Rafa Silva (Benfica) - 35.9km/h
Benfica have produced some of the best young players in the world in recent years. However, their senior pros are special too. Last campaign, 30-year-old Silva proved he could still mix it with football's top athletes.

Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund) - 36.1km/h
Chelsea won't be surprised to find Adeyemi on this list. When they met Borussia Dortmund in the last 16, Adeyemi infamously left Enzo Fernandez in the dirt to score a superb solo goal.

Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkusen) - 36.1km/h
The Premier League is the fastest division in world football. And judging by his 36.1km/h top speed, Diaby will have no issue fitting in following his big-money move to Aston Villa from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Nuno Tavares (Marseille) - 36.1km/h
Tavares is not the best defender, as Arsenal fans found out towards the tail end of the 2021-22 season. His attacking skills have never been in doubt, though, with his incredible pace meaning he can get in some dangerous positions from wing-back.

Federico Valverde (Real Madrid) 36.3km/h
In a team of superstars, Valverde is often underappreciated for his contributions at Real Madrid. Perhaps the knowledge that he was one of the fastest players in last season's Champions League might help change people's minds.

Gabriel Veron (Porto) - 36.4km/h
Veron is the latest in a long line of Brazilian starlets to head to Porto, reportedly turning down the opportunity to join Manchester United in favour of a move to Portugal. There's been plenty of promising signs so far, with his 36.4km/h top speed speaking to his physical excellence.

Leao just had to make this list. Anyone who's been lucky enough to witness his talents in the flesh will know how explosive AC Milan's talisman is. Tying him down to a new contract was a huge win for the Rossoneri.

Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona) - 36.6km/h
Dembele had plenty of problems off the field at Barcelona, but there was never any denying his unstoppable blend of pace and skill. New club Paris Saint-Germain will be hoping he can replicate this blistering top speed in this season's Champions League.

Mykhailo Mudryk (Chelsea) - 36.6km/h
Not a lot has gone right for Mudryk since he joined Chelsea in January 2023. Still, he can take some solace from the fact that only one player registered a higher top speed in the 2022-23 Champions League.

Wow, what a surprise. The man they call Roadrunner is top of the charts. Bayern underwhelmed in the Champions League last season, but Davies' incredible sprinting ability meant it was always going to be tough for any player to be faster than him.
